Just got my Echeveria Rainbow from Thenextgardener. It looks healthy but I'm worried about shipping shock. Any tips for settling it in?

R Rahul87 3 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
Mine arrived bare root so I just potted it immediately in their succulent mix and gave it a tiny drink. Kept it out of direct sun for a week. Lost a couple bottom leaves but bounced back great!

S SnehaR 3 weeks ago
Yeah, usually bare root for the rare ones. Less soil means less chance of rot during transit.

D Deepak91 3 weeks ago
Bare root, really? Mine always come in a small pot. Good to know though.

I always leave mine in the packaging for a day or two to let it acclimate to the house temps before unboxing. Then pot it and ignore it for a week before watering. Works for me.

P PriyaK 3 weeks ago
That's a good idea, never thought of leaving it in the box. Will try next time.

My Thenextgardener order for a rare variegated succulent got delayed in transit and arrived looking a bit sad. What's their return policy for damaged plants?

N Nisha 2 days ago ✓ Best Answer
They have a pretty good plant health guarantee. You usually need to take photos of the damaged plant *in the packaging* as soon as it arrives and contact them within a day or two. They've replaced plants for me before without much hassle.

Yeah, the photos are key. Good luck!

Okay, I've already taken pictures. Will send them an email right away. Thanks!

I had a similar issue once, but it was just a few broken leaves. They offered a partial refund or store credit. Depends on the severity of the damage I guess.

Hmm, mine is more than just a few broken leaves. Hope they replace it.

How long does Thenextgardener usually take to process orders? I placed an order for some rare succulent seeds and it's been 3 days with no shipping update.

P PoojaR 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
For seeds, it can sometimes take a bit longer. My live plant orders usually ship within 2-3 days, but seeds have taken up to 5 business days to get a tracking number. It's normal.

R Rohan 1 week ago
Yeah, they probably handle seeds separately or something. Don't worry too much.

M Mohit 1 week ago
Ah, okay. That makes sense. Was just getting a bit impatient!

Mine shipped pretty fast for Echeveria last week, like 2 days. But I didn't order seeds. Maybe it depends on what you buy?

Could be. Thanks for the info!

Thinking of getting a succulent arrangement kit for a gift. Are the plants usually good quality in those kits from Thenextgardener?

S SoniaG 3 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I got one for my mom's birthday and the plants were surprisingly healthy! Better than some individual ones I've ordered from other places. The ceramic pot was nice too.

A Anil 3 weeks ago
Good to hear, that's my main concern. Don't want to gift sad plants.

M Meera 3 weeks ago
Yeah, they pack them really well so they don't get damaged in transit.

R Ravi 3 weeks ago
The soil mix in the kit is decent, but I always add some extra perlite for better drainage, especially if it's for a beginner. Just a small tip.
11
A Anil 3 weeks ago
That's a useful tip, thanks! Will pass it on.

Are Thenextgardener succulents really organic? I saw it mentioned on their site but want to know if anyone can confirm from their experience.

G Gaurav 1 week ago ✓ Best Answer
They say their potting mix is organic, and I've never seen any signs of pests or weird chemical residue on the plants I've gotten. My plants always seem super healthy and robust, which usually indicates good growing practices.

S Shreya 1 week ago
That's good to know. I try to keep my collection as organic as possible.
3
P PriyaK 1 week ago
Same, especially with having pets around. No weird stuff is a plus.
5
P Preeti 1 week ago
I think it applies more to their soil and fertilizer. For the plants themselves, it's harder to verify without their growing methods. But they do seem to care about quality.
6
S Shreya 1 week ago
Yeah, that's fair. Organic potting mix is still a good start.
